Another fantastic day of powerchair football at Stirling sports village yesterday (26/02/17). The day started well having had some discussions with the management at The Peak it was encouraging to find access arrangements improved and the heating system adjusted as required. Thanks to Robert Sweeney (Match Secretary) and the staff at The Peak for these improvements and I understand further work is on going to establish a home for the SPFA.
The day kicked off with a clash of the top two, there was never going to be anymore than one goal in this match between these auld rivals, Tayside Dynamos came out on top with a single first half goal, despite the second half onslaught by Clyde Caledonia the full time result 1-0. In the other match Gladiator Claymores continued their progression by edging out Clyde Alba 3-2.
South Ayrshire Tigers steadied there form by recording a hard fought goalless draw with Clyde Caledonia, before the Glasgow Gladiator teams played each other resulting in the Bravehearts collected their first win of the season.
Tayside Dynamo left it very late to score the only goal of the game against a resurgent South Ayrshire Tigers team, whilst the Gladiator Bravehearts continued their improving form by holding Clyde Alba to a scoreless draw.
Clyde Caledonia left it late to breakdown the Gladiator Claymore defence and required a penalty kick to break the deadlock, 1-0 the result. South Ayrshire Tigers found their form from matchday 1 and soundly beat the Gladiator Bravehearts 4-0. The biggest shock of the day was left till last as Clyde Alba demolished current champions and league leaders Tayside Dynamo 4 goals to nil in a bruising encounter.
Well done to all, its fair to say all teams had some issues on matchday 3, however lets focus on the positives for the first time ever all teams managed at least one victory, a sign the league is becoming more competitive ?
