This Saturday sees our national team take another historic step forward as we travel to Newtownards to play in a tri-nations tournament. The trip will see us face both Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland, both countries will be using this as final preparation for the Nations Cup later this month in Finland.
We have a squad of six players travelling over to County Down to play the two games in what will be our first full internationals. Our hosts, Northern Ireland will be heading to their first major tournament later and will be looking to seal a place at the World Cup, they are sure to provide a good test for Scotland. The Republic are battle hardened, they are currently ranked 6th in the world and will head to Finland looking to challenge, they are one of the favourites to take a World Cup slot.
The players came from the squad of thirteen that faced Middlesbrough in December, this was whittled down to nine who travelled to Leeds in February. A tough job for coaches Garry Johnstone and Craig Peattie to reduce again and the unfortunate three who missed out were Chris Jacquin from Lothian Wolves, Kein Speed of Tayside Dynamo Blue and Thomas Pettigrew of Clyde Alba. The squad travelling are:-
Kick Off times
12pm Northern Ireland v Scotland
1pm Scotland v Republic of Ireland
2pm Northern Ireland v Republic of Ireland
Hopefully we will have a good travelling support and with the Tartan Army backing I’m sure the players will put in a performance to be proud of.
Massive thanks to our National team sponsors Mobility Central Sports and to the Scottish Football Association for their continued and invaluable support
