The Scottish Powerchair International side met for a final training session of the year on 14th November 2021, and what a session it was.
The national side, sponsored by Wheelchair Sports UK returned to training in September 2021 following a lengthy pause in football due to Covid-19. Monthly training sessions continued as the players got back to football and benefiting from the social, mental and physical benefits that football brings.
Novembers training session would allow the full squad to find out which international competition(s) they would be attending in 2022 to represent their country as the SPFA look to develop not only the first team but also the development team too.
With competitions planned in Northern Ireland (Twice) and Switzerland in 2022 the players and coaching staff look forward to what promises to be an exciting year for Scottish Powerchair Football.
As well as competition announcements and the training session itself, the international side were delighted to welcome Sky Sports to the session. Following interest from social media the Sky Sports team got in touch to capture the session and interview players and coaches as we aim to showcase powerchair football. The Scottish FA who support the national side also attended to capture footage and new images of the national side in action via SNS Group.
A Special thank you to the Scottish FA, Sky Sports and SNS Group who through their work will help us promote the access of Powerchair Football to new audiences.
The SPFA would like to thank all those who played a part in making the national sides return to football happen and everyone who attended the final 2021 session for their efforts.
2022 promises to be a big year for the international side.
