2023 Scottish Cup


The Scottish Powerchair Football Association where proud to host the 2023 Scottish Cup on Sunday 30th April.

With six teams teams competing over two group stages the cup competition got underway in a typical entertaining fashion. Current cup holders Strathclyde Alba made up Group A with Strathclyde Caledonia and Lothian Wolves. Group B made up of Premiership Winners Tayside Dynamos, Championship Winners Ayrshire Tigers and Championship Runners-up Dundee United Dynamos.

Leading on from the group stages the first place team in each group would go on to play the second placed team in the semi finals.
Strathclyde Alba would then face Ayrshire Tigers and Tayside Dynamos would face Lothian Wolves.
Both semi-finals playing out thrilling games with all four teams putting on a great display of powerchair football. In the end though Strathclyde Alba progressed with a 2-0 win and Tayside Dynamos with a 1-0 win on penalties after a thrilling penalty shootout.

Into the final, Strathclyde Alba verses Tayside Dynamos as the two teams who battled out for the premiership title met again. Recent history saw both teams pick up wins against each other in closely contested matches and this cup final would be no different. With chances for both teams the game could have go either way in normal time, however after finishing 0-0 the cup destination would be decided on penalties.

Congratulations to all teams over the weekend who played out another amazing Scottish Cup. Our officials had more fine displays throughout the competition and managed the cup environment very well for players, coaches and spectators.
Finally a thank you to the spectators who played their part in creating a great environment for the players to play their football.

During the awards presentation Ayrshire Tigers also picked up their Championship Trophy and medals following a fine season in which they ran out Champions.
